Dear younger brother,
You ask a simple question and get yelled at because the answer is located within your $200 Android phone, and/or you have asked them the question once before and you did not pay enough attention to keep the answer in your mind.
You get yelled at for not knowing the answer to a question because the questions that our lovely parents ask us are of your responsibility.
i.e. ”Where is your homework?” or ”Why is there a significant amount of trash under your bed?” or “Why are your grades so bad?”
You do not get yelled at for getting a B on a test because you need your A’s to keep your final/quarter grades C or higher because your extremely low homework grades.
You get yelled at for eating too much because they want you to stay healthy, and our late grandmother passed away from complications from diabetes. And you get yelled at for eating too little because your uncle Jeffrey and I have had stomach ulcers in the past, and our parents do not want you to undergo through these hardships.
You get yelled at for asking for a dollar because some the gifts that our parents get for us are expensive, and most are priceless.
i.e. your Android Phone = $200
your new LED TV = $180
your new electric guitar and amp = $400
the house you live in = $150,000
the love and care they provide for you and me = priceless.
You have never uttered the words “I’m sorry” or “I apologize” for something that our parents got angry at you for.
You have a long history of not telling the truth to me and our parents, so we assume that every time “something” happens, then it usually has something to do with you.
You won’t read this, and I know I’m accusing you of a lot here. But you are my brother of 14 years now, and I know you better than anyone else on this planet.
Love,
Earl.
